1 New kidney & a love for sourdough.

My own journey throughout this life can give me goosebumps and tears all in the same moment.

I fell pregnant knowing that my kidneys only had 14% function, which is almost impossible in itself. This meant I needed to have a kidney transplant but I had dreamt of this baby my entire life. I was willing to give it my absolute everything. I choose the hardest route possible and I wouldn’t change it for the world. After confirmation from a blood test that i was in fact 5 weeks pregnant I began the painstaking process of doing dialysis’s.

The risks were major, life threatening in fact, but I stayed firm in my decision that I would rather give it all I can then run this risk of never being able to have another baby again.

6 days a week, 4 hours each day for 35 weeks I did dialysis. I made it. WE made. My son Koa and I made it 35 weeks together attached to a machine. It’s a god damn miracle and I have never loved a human being more in my entire life.

Petal use to come down to the coffee shop with herself and baby tofu’ I slowly began to get to know her and naturally followed her on Instagram. She uploaded a photo with the announcement of giving birth to her second son Cielo 6 weeks early. The second I saw that photo I reached out to her and made my way to the hospital. This was so incredibly close to my heart because my own son spent 2 weeks in the NICU and I had this STRONG calling to be there for her as she navigated such a heartbreaking time whilst trying to manage her own health.

Petal has been by my side through every major life shift that I’ve had and vice versa. A connection between two people that have had so much taken from them because of health is a force to be reckoned with. It’s an understand that we share without having to share.

My son is almost 3 and a half and I finally got the kidney that I’ve needed to live my best life with my son without having to go to the hospital every second day to clean my blood.

Don’t ask me how but somewhere along the lines I managed to perfect making sourdough. Petal has given me an opportunity to showcase my bread in her space and I am forever great-full as this will provide even the smallest amount of extra income to stay home with my baby boy whilst I homeschool him and give him to life he deserves.
